Our final Gaia Garden Club Workshop will be this September 27th at our Gaia Climate Center located at 8918 S Green St. Chicago, IL 60620. This event will end our garden workshops until next year when our membership sign-ups open again. When the membership opens next year we will allow more community members the opportunity to engage in sustainable farming.
Final Gaia Garden Club
At the final workshop, we will be able to see the progress of all of our current members’ home gardens. Our farming guru will also be providing more tips and need to know information about maintaining home gardens. We’ll have guides and tips about sustainable farming, best practices for pest repellent, best seeds for the season, and more.
This final home garden club will encompass everything learned this year. We will even be harvesting produce and herbs from the Gaia Community Garden. Our sustainability experts will be diving into sustainable farming and how it impacts your way of living.
Sustainable farming provides so many benefits to the environment and your household. Reducing costs, helping reduce waste in the environment, and controlling food quality are just few key reasons. When you grow your own produce you can choose organic methods of pest repellant, and your produce aisle can be as close as your backyard. This is the second year for the Gaia Home Garden Club and has been an amazing time connecting with great community members. So many members have learned new sustainable farming methods to continue their home gardens.
Art Exhibition in Chicago
After the garden workshop we will be unveiling a new art exhibition at our Gaia Climate Center. Gaia has acquired beautiful art pieces from Zimbabwe. These art pieces were acquired from Tengenenge, a prominent artist community in Zimbabwe, known for continuing traditional stone art.
Many renowned stone sculptors have come from this community since 1966, such as Fanizani Akuda, Bernard Matemera, & Sylvester Mubayi. Discover art from Southern Africa celebrating nature, its creatures, and friendship. These sculptures bring a sense of community and speaks to the global humanitarian work Gaia does for farmers and children in Zimbabwe.
Our grand art exhibition unveiling begins at 2:30pm, shortly after our last Gaia Home Garden Club workshop! You won’t want to miss this unveiling so follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates and more info. We can’t wait to see everyone there!
