In addition, Gaia is always looking for ways to make a bigger impact in communities and we have learned from personal experience that this can only be achieved if everyone from the community works together.   • Planet Green

    Planet Green is helping Gaia raise funds by recycling ink cartridges, small cell phones and other small electronics. Planet Green with the help of organizations like Gaia has recycled 8 million pounds of printer cartridges that have been kept out of landfills. Along the way Planet Green’s program has expanded to recycle cell phones and various small electronics like PDA’s, MP3 players, and GPS devices to name a few.

  • The National Recycling Coalition

    The NRC is a non-profit trade association working to promote recycling and conservation of natural resources. Gaia continues to support the NRC and their mission by being an active member.

  • Reuse Alliance

    Reuse Alliance is a national association advocating for reuse as a central part of waste management. Reuse Alliance is building a community of like-minded individuals and organizations across the country that is revolutionizing the way we look at waste. And they are working to have October 20th recognized as National Reuse Day – a day to celebrate reuse as a central tenet of sustainability.

  • Illinois Recycling Association

    Gaia has been a member of the Illinois Recycling Association for over 5 years and we continue to support their mission and goals to encourage the responsible use of resources by promoting Waste Reduction, Re-Use and Recycling.

  • Harry S. Truman City College of Chicago

    Harry S. Truman College is one of the largest of the City Colleges of Chicago, with a yearly enrollment of more than 23,000 students, and has the largest English as a Second Language and GED program in Illinois with more than 12,000 students annually. Gaia and Truman College environmental student organization TruEco is in its third year of working together on multiple environmental projects that promote stewardship to college students as well as middle school students.

  • Greater Auburn-Gresham Development Corporation

    Gaia has found a strong community partner with GAGDC and for the past 3 years this partnership has continued to grow through the different events that both organizations have hosted for the Auburn Gresham community like “Spring and Fall Donation Pick-Up Event”, “The Annual Earth Day Community Event” and Gaia has hosted an educational booth at the Renaissance Festival that GAGDC hosts annually within the community. Gaia looks forward to strengthening its partnership with GAGDC and we hope to continue to support each other’s mission for the betterment of our local community.

  • Blacks In Green

    Blacks in Green is a green-village-builder, a national network, one of America's most diverse eco-orgs, and a thought leader in green community education and trade development for communities of color...across 13 economic sectors.

  • Discovering Opportunities for Outreach and Reflection

    DOOR is a faith based network of urban service-learning programs that expose, educate, challenge, and motivate participants to respond to the issues and concerns facing an increasingly urban world. DOOR has partnered with Gaia and has committed to volunteering their time and energy to help Gaia with recycling at the facility and maintain the certified community garden for the summer of 2012! We look forward to hosting the volunteers at the facility and teaching them environmental stewardship.

  • Friends of the Chicago River

    Friends of the River is a community group working for environmental protection of the Chicago river system.
