Local Projects
The Gaia-Movement is dedicated to improving our local environment and communities. Our recycling program keeps more than 5 million pounds of waste from the landfill every year. Along with recycling clothes we recycle some of our waste paper, plastic, and metal. Our goal is to become a zero waste organization. Through the environmental education program community members learn about recycling, renewable energy, and conservation. The Gaia-Movement has a sample solar panel and a machine to make biodiesel. To make our communties more beautiful we work with civic groups for litter cleanups. Also, the Gaia-Movement works with aldermen and community groups to donate books, toys, and clothes to families and schools in need.
Worldwide Projects
The Gaia-Movement supports projects that help people all over the world conserve their resources. These easy projects work directly with community members. Installing rope pumps help conserve water. Planting jathropa trees provides a source of firewood and oil while reducing erosion. The Gaia-Movement also supports schools where these and other techniques are taught.
